Everybody who has gone on dates has most likely faced this classic dating dilemma. Should they wait until the third date to try and hook up with the person they’re dating? Or is the first date appropriate? Let’s face it, you don’t want to act too soon and ruin the connection. On the other hand, you don’t want to wait too long before you miss your chance.
An Interesting Insight
A research published by YouGov tries to determine what British people consider as appropriate when it comes to dating and sex. Their survey basically reveals that Brits actually preferred to have sex early in the relationship. They discovered that 18 percent or one in five people would get frisky after the first date, while 12 percent or one in eight abide by the three date rule.
Meanwhile, 15 percent or one in seven admitted that they are willing to wait until they fall in love and five percent or one in twenty are patient enough to wait until marriage.
Differences in Age and Gender
The behavior changes notably based on an individual’s gender and age. With a 28 to seven percent difference, men are four times more likely ready to do the deed on the first date compared to women. Surprisingly, older men made up most of the percentage. Only 27 percent of men aged 18 to 24 agreed to it, while there were 25 percent of 35 to 44 year old males.
On the contrary, women are twice more likely to wait until they are in love before sleeping with men. About a third interviewed aged over 55 would wait until they were in love.
To sum it up, the attitude changes depending on the age and gender. If you are truly unsure, just communicate with your date and read the signs. This way, you will be able to avoid embarrassing circumstances when the yearning really is not mutual.
